If you're looking for a hidden gem in the heart of Prague, Kavárna 400 ASA is a delightful find that promises not just a refreshing cup of coffee, but an experience that resonates with art and history. Nestled within a former electrical transformer building at Na Zatlance 30, the café boasts a unique charm that sets it apart from typical coffee spots.

The café's ambiance is cozy and welcoming, perfect for casual meet-ups or quiet contemplation over a book. As you step inside, the warm aroma of freshly brewed coffee envelops you, while the modern yet rustic décor reflects the building's intriguing past. The slight hustle of the city fades away, leaving you in a serene nook ideal for savoring the moment.

But it’s not just the ambiance that captivates—Kavárna 400 ASA is also a haven for those with a penchant for quality beverages. Customers rave about the café’s specialty coffee, including espresso-based drinks that are carefully crafted to highlight rich flavors. The batch brew is another star of the show, allowing lovers of coffee to enjoy something smooth yet robust. For those looking for a small bite to accompany their drink, you’ll find a selection of fresh snacks and pastries that, while occasionally met with mixed reviews on freshness, generally delight the palate.

One of the standout features of Kavárna 400 ASA is the upstairs photography gallery, offering a rotating display that showcases local talent. Visitors often note how this transformation of an old electrical building into a dual-purpose space brings a unique cultural twist to their coffee experience. As customer HERM PAZ insightfully points out, it’s a surprising little place that balances relaxation with a hint of artistic exploration.

George Brna, another satisfied patron, calls it a "newly opened cozy photographic gallery" alongside a superb café—proof that Kavárna 400 ASA has quickly made a name for itself in the local scene. The friendly staff adds to the welcoming atmosphere, ensuring that even first-timers feel like regulars in no time.

Accessing this quaint café is also a small adventure, as it sits discreetly between streets, just a 5-minute walk from the bustling Šmichov shopping centre. It’s worth taking a detour to indulge in a delightful coffee while soaking in the artistic ambiance the café provides. Whether you're an art lover, a coffee aficionado, or simply in search of a quiet retreat from the city’s grind, Kavárna 400 ASA is a must-visit destination that guarantees a refreshing and enriching escape.

Surprising little place (not so little...) in a former electrical transformer building, offering a variety of wines & drinks in general, snacks and pastries - plus an excellent photography gallery upstairs.

The location is anything but obvious: in a stand-alone building between two streets, 5 minutes walk from Šmichov shopping centre. According to some previous reviewers the building used to house electrical transformers. Currently the building doubles as an art / photo gallery. The exhibitions seem to change regularly. They offer espresso based coffee drinks as well as batch brew. The café clearly states the origin of beans used. The barista is very meticulous in her work. One can also get some delicious cookies and toasts. The place has some jazz music running in the background, which creates a very cozy atmosphere. Highly recommended for those who like good coffee and a cozy atmosphere. I will definitely visit again, once in Prague.

Tiny reconstructed old electricity substation. Downstairs is a small café with delicious coffee and friendly staff, when it is sunny they place couple of chairs outside as well. Cakes were okay, but a bit stale. Upstairs is a modern photo gallery with voluntary admission.

I really liked this coffee place. The atmosphere is perfect to work due to its lack of noise and calm music. It only has a couple of tables so it helps to reduce the number of people. The attention was great, and the coffee is incredible. It also has very cheap prices which is difficult to find in 2024. More than recommended, especially to work.
